How far are those mountains from where I stand!
Yet I climb them daily uphill and down
Their snowy peaks send shivers down my spine
They remind me of days I spent by your side
When everything about me used to shine
When my days were full of feathery dreams
Of nights where your eyes cast a glow on my life
Of winds that carried your whispers when you were afar
Of a warmth that wraps me whenever you’re around
Those days when my smile never faded
When my eyes by tears were never invaded
When those grenades inside my soul were never ignited
Now, I hear them echo deep inside me
They scare me
And I wish you were here
Beside me
To feel protected in your arms
To be lost in your world
Where I used to be
God! How far it seems since I last saw you
Those ghostly figures refuse to stir
They forced you out of my scene
They took my whole life from my hands
And placed sorrow and pain where my garden used to grow
Yet, I cannot see them anymore
Their looks,
Their names,
Everything about them
It has all been erased from my remembrance
And nothing remained but ashes of what I used to have
And the reminiscence of you
Of us
The memory of my best times
When I was safe
When I was peaceful….

I know that something must be done
To save the person I’ve buried in the den
To feel the sun on my skin once more
To see the luminosity only you can show me
To witness the daylight only you can cast on my existence
To run away from the storm that’s forming in my head
But I can do nothing but be aware, yet silent
And my chance of retribution would come
And I would run to you
With my arms wide open
And no one would seize you away
And no one would compel me to leave you
For I’ll lock us away
From all those monsters
That are lurking
In the darkness
Trying to keep us apart
And ingest the solitary key that leads to where we are
